The overgrown way to the tree house was a real problem. It barely felt like a trail, and walking through the brush left me with cuts and scrapes on my arms and legs. The tree house itself was beautiful and felt safe, while the routes to the bridge and bird viewing areas were clean, marked, and easy to walk. Our stay was also shaped by a really bad birthday dinner. The room was lovely, with thoughtful details and quiet river views, and so comfortable that we paid for another night. Staff around the property were friendly and helpful, even when they helped us with our dead car battery. But at the restaurant, service felt rushed and unwelcoming despite the nice setting. The food came cold, the chicken was undercooked, and afterward we had severe stomach cramps and cold sweats. We think it was food poisoning. We had to cancel our evening plans and avoided eating there for the rest of the stay. We'd still recommend Sleeping Giant for the rooms, views, and helpful staff. We're already planning to come back, just not to that restaurant or along that trail until it gets proper maintenance.

The grounds are lovely, there are lots of activities, and the accommodations are great, but the restaurant makes the stay a mixed bag. It's the only dining option on the property, and the service can be awful. One dinner took nearly three hours. Another night we pre-ordered to save time, and it was quicker, but everyone's food arrived cold. Check the bill before leaving, especially if you're traveling with a group. Charges ended up on the wrong rooms, and there were line items we couldn't account for. We got reductions of up to $500 on the final bill to correct it. Staff also seemed bothered by us and were unfriendly much of the time.

The resort itself was beautiful and kept up well. Our room was clean, the food was good and caused no illness, filtered water was easy to get around the property, and the tours we took were well organized. The concierge was great too. But arrival and departure were frustrating. When we first got there, they said our bags would be brought to the room, then left them unattended in the lobby for over an hour even though the room was ready. I eventually carried our things down several flights of stairs myself because I didn't want someone walking off with our valuables. The front desk staff couldn't answer my questions without checking with a supervisor. Worse, we confirmed our ride to another resort four times the day before, but the driver never arrived. That badly disrupted the stay and delayed our transfer, a big deal when our time in Belize was limited.

So quiet, with amazing plants all around, and the staff were wonderful. The rooftop seating at the one restaurant was really good too. The tree house was awesome, though the grass was too tall to walk through. All in all, don't miss this place, you'd regret it.

The staff were incredibly friendly, and the food was delicious, with a vegan menu, wood-fired pizzas, fresh juices, and every slush flavor you can imagine. I loved staying here. There's a great pool, hiking and swimming on site, a yoga pavilion, a tree house, and even a horse barn. One of my favorite places I've stayed, and I can't recommend it enough.
