Benque Hotel

From my balcony, I had a wonderful view, and the accommodations were very nice. I also joined Purple Mayan for an incredible two-day experience. They knew their stuff, and in one day we saw Mayan ruins, pyramids, caves, waterfalls, a medicine trail, and a chocolate farm. I was surprised by how much fit in.

After the tours, I got a massage right at the hotel, and it was great. For anyone looking for adventures, ask Steve, the owner, about exploring Belize. He had a list of more than 125 things to see or do. The caves and Mayan ruins are tucked away, so you won't just spot them as you pass by. I had a wonderful time there.

The deck was a lovely place for morning coffee, and our clean suite had everything we needed. Whenever we asked for something, it showed up pretty quickly. The beds and other furniture were comfortable too. You're staying in a neighborhood where local people live and work, so take time to enjoy the culture and get to know them. Be respectful of their way of life and the differences. We had an amazing time adventuring with Steve. Book an adventure, and you'll come away with memories of caves, waterfalls, ruins, granite waterslides, and sliding around in gorgeous red clay. We can't wait to return. Thanks, Steve.

This is a clean, comfortable family-run hotel, and my sheets and towels smelled freshly soapy. I don't understand why anyone would give it one or two stars. Sure, it's not a dream spa resort, but I don't think you'll find a better spa or resort hotel in Belize or around San Ignacio. It's very close to the Guatemalan border, which makes going to Tikal and back convenient. I'd definitely recommend it.
