Pedro's Hotel

The hostel staff were friendly overall, and the price was good. The bar and club downstairs can be fun, and the pizza is really good. Rooms get warm and can be noisy, so bring earplugs for the night.

The receptionist was great, and the location is good. It can turn into a party until 3:30 in the morning on Wednesdays and Fridays, so it’s probably best for younger travelers or people who like going out at night. We stayed the second night in the building at the back, where it was quite noisy, and the WiFi was unreliable. Water pressure was much lower than at other places I’ve stayed in San Pedro. I asked for my laundry to be done the day before my flight, but it wasn’t ready. I brought it in early that day and was assured it would be done. Luckily, I’d kept one pair of pants out of the laundry, or I might have had to fly in my bathing suit, shorts, or smelly clothes.

I’m reviewing the inn-style rooms, not the hostel. This was the best deal we found in San Pedro, and it’s worked out great as a base for exploring. Staff have been really helpful with tips and arranging fairly affordable excursions. There’s free WiFi in the common area and bar. Just know that the hostel section is near the airport, and some rooms are above the bar, which gets very loud at night, especially on Wednesdays. Keep that in mind when booking.

Years later, my friend and I still compare every hostel to this one. We once made the classic mistake of booking a tour with a random person in town. It turned out to be a total scam, but Pedro stepped in and got our money back. This place is amazing. Make your reservation and get ready for the adventure.
