Anchorage Beach Resort

The rooms are old, with concrete slab construction, and nothing fancy. Delory Flowers was amazing to deal with, though. He answered all our questions and helped us book things before we arrived, making for a smooth couple of days.

We loved waking up to the sunrise over the water at Hotel Anchorage. The view from the balcony was fantastic, and Delroy, the manager, was welcoming and friendly. He gave us the room with the best view. The free kayaks were a fun extra. The place is a bit old-fashioned, but for the price it’s a great deal. Totally recommend! 🌅🛶✨

We arrived, saw the room, and immediately booked another hotel and left Anchorage, even though we were meant to stay a week. I really don’t understand how this place has a 4.2 rating. The room was really dirty. It’s a 15-minute walk to the town center, and the balcony chairs were missing, so we had to carry them up the stairs to the third floor ourselves. There was some kind of bar downstairs, but it was partly collapsed, leaking from all sides, and everything in it was broken and dirty. We couldn’t even get a cup of coffee there. There were absolutely no facilities, and the only place to sit was in the hotel room.

The property is about a 12-minute walk, or a four-minute bike or golf cart ride, from the nearest restaurants, and a little farther from a store. Most resorts on Caye Calker don’t have ocean access at the back unless they’re north of the split, and there’s only one store and one freestanding restaurant on that side. The couple who manage the property are very social and helpful, and spend time with guests at the outdoor bar and grill. Rooms are clean and nice, with warm water, shampoo and soap, and a great air conditioner with a remote in each room. The mini fridge was handy for chilling drinks from the store, and you can use the grill by the bar if you need to cook.
