Julia´s Cabanas

The locals were amazing, and I've never felt so safe. My partner and I loved staying at Julie’s, though it was too short. We had the two bedroom with kitchen and balcony for four nights. It came fully furnished, and even had a pretty cool iguana that lounged in the sun the whole time. We'll definitely come back. Life's too short to think your shit don't stink. Much love for a place I should've visited sooner. It's simple, clean, peaceful, and accommodating, not a fancy hotel. There are four lounge chairs, nothing fancy, but modern enough for an average person. Barefoot next door can get loud. It may annoy you, but it's part of the experience. Shut the windows, turn on the AC, watch TV, and relax. And the gentleman who sits in the chair on the beach is harmless, minds his own business, and barely noticeable. He doesn't do anything that would make him seem creepy. One thing, the ocean is salty and will eat away at and rust anything steel. That should be common knowledge for most.

Beautiful beach and a great value cabana right on it. The staff were friendly and available. If you're driving, park in the dirt lot across from the police station and walk along the sidewalk to the cabanas. The beachfront hotels sit off the road in a charming pedestrian neighborhood.

The cabanas aren't fancy, but for the price they were totally worth it. Clean sheets, kitchen, and bathroom, and our room #6 was right on the beach. We could open the front and back doors in the daytime and didn't need AC until shutting them to sleep. The two best bars in Placencia are next door, but we didn't lose any sleep. What we did hear sounded like a good time. Shelly, the on site Manager, and her assistant Adriana were friendly, always available, and quick to handle requests. Shelly can also arrange excursions. On our snorkel trip, the captain caught barracuda and conch for us, then made a stew with vegetables and coconut milk. Best seafood lunch I've ever had. You can walk along the main part of town to the public beach at the peninsula's end. Get a seaweed shake, it's delicious.

Easy to walk everywhere from these cozy beachside cottages. The staff were friendly and helpful. The photo is from my porch.
