Mirasol Villa

We had a small issue with the washing machine, but communication with the managers was great. Otherwise, this was a tremendous value, and I'll definitely stay again when I'm in Placencia. The space was stylish and well appointed, with a private pool and easy access to the beach and nice restaurants. A hidden gem for our trip.

The beds were comfortable, and it's easy to get down to the beach, with Toucan Jack's beach bar right there. The apartments are nice and well equipped, though some things are looking worn and there are plumbing issues to be aware of.

We ended up finding somewhere else nearby after asking for a refund for the unused days. At first, they returned only part of what they owed, and it took repeated follow-ups to get the rest. We wouldn't recommend this place. There are better equipped and located options for the same or less, so check the reviews carefully. The property isn't directly on the beach, despite some pictures. It's behind the Ocean Breeze resort, and the front decks look toward the back of that building. Our room was spacious and reasonably clean, with a comfortable king bed and working air conditioning. The central location was close to most things we wanted, and the beach itself was very nice. There were problems right away. The bathroom door wouldn't shut because its hinges were coming off. The shower drain grate had sharp edges, the washing machine knob was broken and the machine was rusting, and the kitchen was poorly equipped despite being advertised as full. We couldn't unlock the front door to reach the deck, even with the key provided, so we had to go out the back and walk around. That door was described in the room information as a fire exit. We contacted the property manager twice and got no reply. On the third day, they emailed that the key was on a bedroom hook, but it wasn't there. When new tenants moved in upstairs on day two, their toilet flushing made ours gurgle and send sewer smells into the room. Our toilet then wouldn't flush properly and nearly overflowed. A plumber came two days after we reported it and said the septic tank was overloaded and needed cleaning. The property manager's team said it would take a few days to deal with it. They offered 15% off what we'd paid, which we declined. They suggested another unit farther up the peninsula, but it had a poor beach, no nearby restaurants, and would have meant renting a car to get to Placencia town. It wasn't what we had booked, and when we asked about another option, they said there wasn't one.

Just off the boardwalk, with an easy walk to everywhere. The accommodation was clean and had what I needed, and the shared pool was a great way to cool off.
