Cohune Palms River Cabanas

We enjoyed the warm river water and the rope swing, which our boys loved. There’s a nice bakery nearby for sweet treats, and the local market, full of fresh fruit and local wares, made for a fun day in the city. The Mayan ruins are just minutes away. Cohune Palms River Resort was a peaceful place to stay, often visited by howler monkeys in the early morning and late afternoon, toucans, agouti, and lizards. Mike is kind, gentle, and peaceful, and freely shares what he knows about the jungle place he loves. The personal cook on site made a fine traditional meal and was so gracious. The rooms were quaint and simple, with exactly what the website described.

The tree swing into the river was a great way to cool off in the afternoon, and the location was perfect for anyone wanting to get off the beaten path. We stayed at the Lodge in March 2020. The cabins were clean and the staff fantastic. Melanie cooked some of the tastiest homemade food we had on our whole vacation.

The river was clean and a great place to chill out, and the rope swing was super fun. It’s only 15 minutes from town, so getting a cab straight to the Cabanas is easy. Mike is one of the nicest hosts we met in Belize, with lots of great stories and history. A really great place.

The kids had a great time swimming in the Mopan River and using the rope swing. We also enjoyed great breakfasts and dinners every day and night we were there, the food was awesome. It’s a small jungle resort in a great spot for visiting Mayan ruins. We highly recommend it!
