Super 8 by Wyndham Abbotsford BC

I’m very upset about the condition of the pet friendly room I had for two nights at the Super 8 on Sumas Way. I know rooms for pets may get more wear, but the hygiene here was unacceptable and the room seemed neglected for a long time. The bathroom switches and door trim were black and sticky. The heater had a thick layer of dust and black dog fur. There were cobwebs running from the curtains to the walls, and hair, fur, and crumbs had built up on the baseboards behind the beds. Soon after the stay, my dog developed a barking cough, lethargy, and a runny nose. A vet later confirmed kennel cough. Because it’s highly contagious and the room was visibly unsanitary, I’m concerned proper cleaning wasn’t being done between guests. I believe these poor cleaning practices compromised my pet’s health, and I’m now facing significant vet and antibiotic costs as a direct result of the stay. Housekeeping is completely incompetent and should obviously be trained properly. DO BETTER!

We were there for a month while our home was being renovated, with our two kids, ages 3 and 4, and our dog. The pool and waterslide were a huge hit, and breakfast each morning made things easy. Guest laundry was a big help over a long stay too. We found the staff friendly, the beds comfortable, parking easy, and the location convenient for lots of restaurants. Great value, and we’d stay again.

The included breakfast was the worst I’ve had at a hotel. You’d be better off going to the Tim Hortons in the parking lot. The bed had a tissue thin blanket and three half size pillows on a queen. There were also visible cracks in the drywall.

For a team group, we got a messy room, and a ceiling leak meant we couldn’t use a washroom that morning. I know it’s a Super 8 and only expected a place to sleep, but this was still a bad stay. They first offered 30% off, then changed that to 20% off one day. I was told I hadn’t listened and that it had always been 20%, even though several people heard the higher offer. I complained to Wyndham, which I rarely do. I’d avoid this place unless you have to. If you do, good luck.
