The way Glenn at Woods End Landing handled our booking was shocking. We had saved for months for a family trip with our one-year-old, the grandparents, and our dogs, and paid over $5,000. During one of Vancouver Island's worst wildfires, the Mount Underwood Fire closed the main highway into Bamfield and left the area without power for weeks. The Alberni-Clayoquot Regional District and Huu-ay-aht First Nations issued travel advisories asking visitors to stay away. The only route left was a dangerous back logging road with no cell service, frequent breakdowns, and active bear country. We read an article saying police had 17 calls in a 24-hour period for flat tires, breakdowns, and similar problems. Taking a baby and seniors through that didn't feel safe. We contacted Glenn, explained the situation, and asked for a refund, partial refund, or even a credit for next season. We truly wanted to come and had saved up for the trip. His entire response was a screenshot of the cancellation policy, with no empathy, acknowledgment, or attempt to find a solution. I've followed up repeatedly since, including asking at least for a refund on unused charges such as pet fees, pet cleaning fees, parking, and the quad rental. He has ignored every message. We've received nothing but silence. I've traveled to more than 50 countries and stayed in wonderful lodges and boutique hotels around the world, and I've never had an experience like this or encountered such poor and unethical service. I don't doubt Woods End Landing could be a nice property, but we felt taken advantage of by management. I'd strongly urge people to book elsewhere in Bamfield. It's a real shame, given what seems to be a nice community. I almost never leave Google Reviews, but thought people considering the property should know.

Rachel was friendly and very helpful, and we appreciated the common area with its fire and barbecue. We came for a fishing trip and had a relaxing three-night stay. They gave us good information about travel options, arrival and check-in, and helped with luggage. It was great having somewhere to moor our boat, clean fish, and store the processed catch. Thank you!

The boardwalk is lovely for a stroll, and there's a delicious restaurant about a 10-minute walk away. Amazing hiking is just a five-minute drive. The landscape is picturesque, and the cottages are quaint and comfortable. Staff and locals were friendly and helpful. When we had questions about directions, they answered the phone right away and gave us useful advice. Highly recommend!

My wife and I spent several nights here in August 2018, and I can't think of a bad thing to say. The rustic cabins were immaculate, the dock was in great shape, and there were plenty of good fish-cleaning stations. The hosts were helpful and seemed like great people. I can't wait to come back!

The owners really look after you, and each cabin feels special because they've put so much of themselves into it. We weren't sure from the website what to expect, but were pleasantly surprised when we arrived. It's simple accommodation in a stunning, peaceful setting, with everything a family needs in each cabin. The Bamfield community is irreplaceable, and there are so many beautiful beaches to explore. If you like exploring, this is a great spot. We'll be back!
