Bancroft Inn & Suites

We would have left if there had been another option, but there wasn’t. The rooms were in very poor shape, with old, worn furniture, holes in the walls, and chunks of paint missing. The floors were very dirty and housekeeping was poor. The main heating radiator was completely rusted. This really doesn’t deserve to be called Inns and Suites hotel.

It’s a simple roadside hotel, so I’m not sure what some people expect. It worked perfectly for what we needed: the room was clean, the beds were fine, and the shower had hot water. The front desk attendant and staff were pleasant, and they let us check out late on very short notice.

The biggest issue was the damp, musty feeling throughout the room, and I still wonder what causes it. Still, I slept well, and for one night it was fine since there aren’t many places to stay nearby. It feels like a very basic motel with a 1970s vibe. Some things have been updated, including the nice bathroom sink and counter and the new laminate floors, while the lighting, curtains, and bedspreads look very old. The owner at the front desk was friendly and easy to reach, parking was plentiful, and the price was okay. There were some useful points: a mini fridge, a comfortable bed, cable TV, free parking, a convenient location, and no sign of bed bugs or other critters. It was very quiet, too. On the downside, you can barely hear the TV even with the volume up. Only two very small towels were provided, and there should be four. Each bed had three pillows, but they were very cheap and soft. The bathroom is extremely tiny, hard to get into, and barely lets the door clear the toilet. The bathtub was stained, or possibly dirty, and the shower floor felt a little spongy.

The rooms were okay, but the tubs were a brown, rusty color. I asked for a ground-floor room because I can’t manage stairs, and I have a parking permit, but they had no parking for permits. When I returned to my room, there wasn’t a space in front of it. I was told people upstairs could park there and we’d have to park elsewhere and walk. Because of that, I won’t return. I’d advise anyone with disability parking not to go, as they won’t help you out.
