The units were clean, modern, and practical for a group, and touchless check-in was easy. We like the idea of Basecamp as a middle ground between a hotel and an Airbnb, and we had a good stay overall. The parking height limit is 1.8 m, which rules out many common trucks and SUVs. We worked around that, but the limit should be made clear before booking. The hot tub schedule also needs better advance notice. On check-in morning, we got an email saying it closes Sundays for cleaning under Alberta regulations and opens at 9:00am, so there was no chance of a pre-ski soak. Cleaning is necessary, but guests should know about the restriction before arrival. I later made a Sunday-only booking to check, and couldn't find the closure disclosed before the cancellation window ended. Maybe clean one tub each day on alternating days, or choose a lower-impact day, so guests can still use one. With clearer information up front and a few small changes, this could easily be a 5-star stay.

The concierges were all kind and helpful with suggestions and bookings, and Kris the manager was especially friendly. We were six adults travelling as a family, and the beds were extremely comfortable. The place had lots of light, great views, a huge kitchen, and easy temperature controls. Bear st and Banff ave were a few minutes away on foot, and IGA was only two minutes away. There isn't a drying room for skis or snowboards, though the area by the room entrance worked well enough. I'd definitely recommend staying here.

Kirk and the staff were genuinely welcoming, and it's easy to get around from here. Just be ready to pay for parking one way or another. The public garage next door is run by a third party and costs CAD $60/day, with no guest voucher or discount. I might look for somewhere with parking next time.

The only real plus is being close to local restaurants. The Banff location is noisy, the rooms are tiny, and the place smells like a mall food court. The kitchenette is poorly equipped, and there's nowhere to put luggage or gear. At 6:00 am, skiers upstairs stomp around in their boots on the floor while heading for the bus, then the city garbage truck comes around at about 6:30am. The main train line is nearby too, so there's no peace and quiet. Parking at $35 per day is ridiculous. During ski season, the price is almost the same as Banff Springs, while our stay at basecamp Revelstoke was great and half the price.
