Telegraph Cove Resort

We’d originally planned to tent at the campground, but after a long, wet day on the north island 1000, we ended up staying here. The location is amazing, and the rooms felt new, clean, and quiet. Rates seemed reasonable, especially compared with home, where it’s more expensive. The staff were okay, though not especially hospitable or as friendly as people elsewhere on the island. The laundry facilities were nice.

We lost half our Saturday on the water because we couldn’t launch our trailer boat until 1:30 PM. We hadn’t been told when booking that the boat ramp was basically unusable unless the tide was high. When I raised it, staff brushed me off with, “We don’t control the tides!” A simple heads-up would’ve helped us plan, but the weekend fishing trip was frustrating, and we were extremely disappointed with Telegraph Cove Resort. We won’t be back. Do better.

It’s a truly beautiful place, with just the right balance of peaceful and lively. For me, it’s the best place to stay on the North Island.

The wildlife boat tour with Rolph from Vancouver Island Photo Tours was genuinely one of the best days of my life, just excellent. We loved staying here and can’t wait to return someday. Our room for 2 had cooking facilities and felt lovely and cosy. You absolutely must try to book that tour if you stay here.
