Accessibility was the reason this was only a three-star visit. Getting to check-in meant going up steps over an icy path, then back down a large set of stairs. There’s no ramp or elevator, and the cabin stairs have no railings. I have mobility issues and had considered bringing my walker, but chose a cane. I’m glad I did, since I’m not sure how I’d have managed the stairs with it. I needed my friends’ help constantly or I would have been stuck at spa level. We ended up cancelling dinner because of my mobility issues. They kindly waived the $20 per person cancellation fee. We were five women in our 20s to 50s, there to celebrate my niece’s upcoming wedding, and stayed in the beautiful Honeysuckle cabin. It’s very well designed and modern, has a large deck with a fire table, and could easily fit up to eight. The staff were lovely and courteous, and customer service was excellent. We used the app to request ice and decaf coffee, and both arrived very quickly. Garbage was also picked up. We chose not to have the room cleaned on the second day since we’d already done it ourselves. The change rooms were oddly designed but nice, with lots of locker space, robes, towels, and showers. I didn’t get to enjoy many of the rituals, partly because I’d booked a massive. I did have an RMT massage with Jacquie, who I highly recommend. We talked about my health issues and treatment plan, and she delivered exactly what I’d hoped for. I also enjoyed the relaxed outdoor space, where quiet conversation is allowed. Would I return? Yes, but only if the accessibility issues are addressed.

The property is beautiful, and we did enjoy dinner, but the visit was very disappointing. We’d had a great experience at Wander Resort in PEC a couple of years ago, so we returned for a special 65th birthday getaway. We spent about $2,000 for two nights and drove nearly four hours expecting the full Nordic resort experience that had been heavily marketed and discussed when booking. Before the trip, we called after hearing there’d been a fire. We were told only that the spa area was unavailable, so we decided to go ahead. Nobody explained the full extent of the closures. When we arrived, several parts of the resort, including the lounge, were out of order, which significantly affected the experience we’d booked and paid for. If we’d been properly told in advance, we absolutely would have postponed. We contacted the resort right after our stay and were told management would respond as soon as possible. Four days later, we still hadn’t heard back. Transparency and customer service matter. Guests need to know when major amenities are unavailable so they can make an informed decision before spending this much on a luxury stay.

We had SO much fun at their Pop-Up Pool Party over the long weekend for a bachelorette, since the spa was closed. The staff were amazing, the pools were warm, and it wasn’t too crowded, so it still felt relaxing. They served food and drinks poolside too, which made it even better. I’d definitely come back for another pool party.

I went to Wander for my birthday and had a fantastic time. The pools had an incredible variety, and I loved the sauna. The Nordic spa circuit is beautifully designed and made for a really relaxing escape. Highly recommend if you want to unwind in the County.

We went to Wander Spa on February 27th as a special Valentine’s gift to each other, but the experience was a real disappointment. The Steam Room is our favourite, and we learned just days beforehand that it was closed for renovations. It had been unavailable for weeks without notice, and the 72 hours’ warning came too late for us to get a refund. The 15-minute German ritual in the dry spa had loud rock'n roll music instead of something calm and relaxing. The big pools weren’t really warm, and staff allowed multiple guests to talk loudly throughout the Spa. Alcohol was available to buy onsite, which made some guests even louder. It didn’t feel tranquil like they advertise. When we were leaving and wanted to shower, there was no hot water, so we had to drive two hours home before showering. If you want a party place and an unprofessional experience, go to Wander. For something calm, relaxing, and tranquil, don’t bother.
