Le Cedar Lodge

The Cedar Lodge room was comfortable, with cozy bedding, and having a fridge in the room plus a fully equipped shared kitchen was handy. But the walls are paper thin. I could hear hallway conversations as if people were in my room, and footsteps sounded like stomping all night, probably because of the wood floors. I'd bring earplugs next time. I got there a little before 5pm, less than an hour after check-in. The front desk person was about to leave an envelope with my name at the front, handed it to me, and welcomed me quickly. I wouldn't expect much from the front desk beyond that. I couldn't find the bistro at first. A staff member pointed me to it, but it was just an empty hall, and nobody answered when I called the bistro directly. Maybe they were understaffed, or maybe the kitchen just happened to be closed that night. A note on the door would've helped. It's a nice place, but I'd bring food or eat in town.

The private beach was a highlight, and swimming in the lake with nobody else around was amazing. The hotel was quiet, and we enjoyed the place completely. There are two types of rooms, and I'd suggest choosing one of the newer-looking ones. Chloe and Steve, the guy in the restaurant, made us feel so welcome. Their service spirit was exceptional. Breakfast was basic, though, and the half egg was the one thing I disliked. The visit turned out better than we expected.

The room was cute and I slept really well. Breakfast was underwhelming, though that's often how it is in Québec. I was in a hurry, and the lady got me checked in in 20 seconds. Thank you!

Seeing the original Far Hills Inn across from the new, modern inn in such a dilapidated state was heartbreaking. I stayed at the original many years ago, so this visit felt disappointing. The new facility just doesn't have the charm and character the old place had.
