The price is the same as at two other fully equipped hostels in the park, and I don’t understand the hype. It’s rustic, sure, but not functional. There are no showers, so you have to drive 20min to get one for free. The WiFi barely works and can be gone for days. The beds are too small and uncomfortable, and there’s nowhere private to brush your teeth or change. For dishes, there’s a sink without a tap, and you have to get water from another sink that has no drain. The staff member didn’t answer my “good morning,” too busy on his phone. It wasn’t clean, and all the dishes smelled bad. We had to bring our own sponge and cleaning product because things were too dirty. Even the curtains are too small for the windows.

We’ve been coming back for three years, booking the two 12 bed dorms for a weekend with our group. It works well for friends or family who aren’t into hardcore camping but don’t mind being off the grid and using the outhouse. There’s a big common room to hang out in, everything we need for cooking, and bedding is provided, though we usually bring our own sleeping bags. The sauna feels especially good on a snowy evening. A great base for ski days, hikes, or just some mountain time. Thanks HI mosquito creek!

A great city escape. The wood burning sauna was so good. We jumped into the snow, then went inside to warm up.

We spent four days at mosquito creek wilderness hostel, and the dorm was clean and quiet. The creek was a lovely place to sit in the mornings after getting up and again in the evenings. We even ate dinner beside it and stayed there for a couple of hours. I also enjoyed the evening fire, listening to Music and chatting with a couple of other guests. The kitchen is well equipped and has lots of fridge storage. Pit toilets were clean. There’s water at one kitchen faucet, but we had to carry it in a beaker to wash dishes. The property has a sauna, though we didn’t use it. WiFi is limited. The first manager kept it on until 10:30pm and turned it on for a couple of hours in the morning. The second kept it on until midnight and switched it back on again in the morning. I’d recommend staying here to visit points of interest along the ice fields parkway, with plenty of hikes nearby.

The place was peaceful and spotless, and the bonfire area made for a cozy way to spend the evening. Our accommodation had a bunk bed, with separate rooms and washrooms for men and women, which was convenient. The kitchen was clean and had the basic utensils and supplies we needed. I liked the warm living room too, with games, magazines, and books for downtime. It was budget-friendly and good value without giving up quality. I had a wonderful stay and would recommend it to anyone after a comfortable, affordable retreat.
