Motel 6 Brampton, ON - Toronto

The front desk brushed off my complaints, saying the rooms had just been cleaned, but the place was filthy and badly run down. I had to wipe the table and toilet seat myself, and the bathroom was in rough shape, with a shower coming apart that barely worked. The headboard was dirty too, and the floor creaked, felt like it was falling apart, and hadn't been cleaned properly. There were cheap patches on the damaged walls. The hallways looked as if they hadn't been cleaned in months. Housekeeping seemed to spend more time chatting and laughing than cleaning. People were smoking in nonsmoking rooms, and staff didn't seem to care. There were also a lot of sketchy people staying there. For what it costs, guests deserve a clean room. This was easily the worst Motel 6 I've stayed at. Avoid it if you can.

The staff were kind, probably the one good part of our stay, but I wouldn't come back. Our room was small but okay. The bathroom had graffiti on the wall, the shower wasn't very clean, and the water pressure was poor. It also smelled like someone had smoked cigarettes in there, despite this being a smoke-free hotel. In the halls, there were garbage bags left beside an overflowing bin, and the area smelled unpleasant. The window had no screen, so we couldn't safely let in fresh air.

I was worried after reading the reviews, but this was the only place that would take pets, and I was pleasantly surprised. Our room was small, though clean, including the bathroom, sheets, and comforter. The bed was comfortable enough, with no lumps. Maybe we got lucky, but we had a good room and a good stay.

The front desk staff were the only good thing, and I felt bad for them. The whole place smelled of cigarettes and pot, and it was dirty and disgusting. I switched rooms because the smoke detector was faulty and there were cockroaches. In the second room, the bed wasn't made, so the front desk guy and I had to put it together and get the pillows. I won't be back. Stay away.
