Lac Des Roches Resort

We showed up on the off chance there was a vacancy and were glad to find cabin #4 at a very reasonable price, possibly because it was shoulder season. The log cabins have loads of charm and are only steps from the lake. Ours faced north, so there were plenty of chances to find shade. We saw lots of birds, and I liked that the fire extinguishers were easy to spot. Inside, the kitchen was fully equipped with full-sized appliances, and linens and bedding were supplied. The firm mattress suited me, and the whole place had a wonderful log cabin feel. There’s no internet in the cabin, though you can get it in the office. We heard others mention highway noise from across the lake; the log walls blocked most of it, and with the windows shut it was just a hum. That might be different in summer. The restaurant wasn’t open for the season yet, but we had brought our own food. Some guests may mind that lake water needs to be boiled for a minute to make it safe to drink. We had bottled water, so it wasn’t an issue for us.
