Bridgewater Hotel

We paid too much for what turned out to be a really disappointing stay. The carpet in our room was stained and hadn't been vacuumed, and there was water damage under the air conditioning unit. On Valentine’s Day there was no hot water for half the day, so my wife and I had to take a cold shower that morning. At 9am the back door was locked when we tried to get to our vehicle. The front desk argued when we mentioned it, saying it was only locked overnight, even though we'd entered through that same door the previous night.

We ended up here late after our air mattress failed while camping, and I'm super happy we did. I'd seen the place online but wasn't sure about it, and everything else was crazy expensive. Staff were still there to check us in around 2am, which surprised me since everything in Nova Scotia closes so early. The room was a good size and super clean, with a tub clean enough for a bath, a good-sized fridge and a microwave. There's ice in the lobby and a little breakfast place too. It's clearly an old building with renovations ongoing, but for the price it's a great deal. Cheap, clean, and I'd totally stay again.

We wanted to leave as soon as we checked in, but the other possible places were booked. The new floors were about the only updated thing, as everything else was dated or broken. The table we tried to eat takeout on toppled over because it wasn't bolted to its stand. The bathroom was tiny, the toilets were low, and the bathtub had stains that looked permanent. I wouldn't use it. The hallway carpet was so soiled I didn't want to walk on it even with shoes, and there was garbage and lots of cigarette butts at the back entrance. Just really seedy. I wouldn't return.

The beds were clean and comfy, the air conditioner was new, and the location is close to all amenities. Great staff too. They said the pool and sauna should be ready soon.
