Walkerton Inn Motel

The price felt fair for a simple room. The bed was comfortable, and the air conditioning worked well. The shower could use an update, though the water pressure was great. Clean enough for a basic stay.

I came back around 7pm and the room still hadn't been cleaned, even though I'd asked that morning to have it thoroughly cleaned. At first I didn't realize the problem was bed bugs. Once I found them, the motel wouldn't take responsibility. They offered to move me, but I was still dealing with bugs, then told me to go to another motel. Those were the only choices I was given. They also refused any kind of discount. The Health Unit now has an open case there. Terrible customer service.

The location worked well for us since there were only three places to choose from in the area. The room was clean and comfortable, with a coffee maker, and the stay was perfectly acceptable. It did seem pricey compared with other small-town hotels and motels I've stayed at lately. The towels did leave the bathroom smelling like mothballs.

Room 7 had a chemical smell with a foul odor underneath it. I'd call that a one-off, except I'd seen an older review mention a chemical smell in a room too. The place also needs proper cleaning and maintenance: stains on the carpet, debris and condiment packets in the drawers, floors that hadn't been vacuumed, grimy fridges, and dirty patio furniture. The mattresses were cheap and stiff. The decor and appliances were dated, which I expected at a motel, but there were holes and stains as well. If the room had simply been clean, I would've rated it higher. I wasn't expecting much, but got less than I bargained for.
