Hotel Victor

We showed up at 2 a.m. without a reservation, and the owners were kind enough to give us the last room they had. It was clean in both the bedroom and bathroom, with comfortable beds and enough space. They made us feel very welcome. I’d recommend staying here, just remember there’s no lift and you might have to bring your bags up as many as two floors.

I’d suggest this place to solo travelers on a tight budget who mainly need a base for exploring. The Berri/Uqam metro station is about a five-minute walk, and from there you can reach most places. I liked the surrounding neighborhoods, too. It’s a basic, affordable hotel near lots of attractions and amenities. The room had a fridge, a plain bed, and a clean bathroom, but no coffee or microwave. The new AC worked very well through the hot nights.

A friendly, welcoming reception team and a very convenient location make this a solid budget place for an overnight stay. For its location and service, I think it deserves at least a 4.5 rating.

The reception ladies are really nice, and there are squirrels around the hotel, which is a bonus. It could use a few touch-ups, but it’s really good overall. People book a one-star hotel that’s basically just for sleeping, then complain about it, and that seems wild to me.
