For four nights, I had a wonderful stay in a clean, cozy room. The host was friendly and helpful, and having the separate kitchen and laundry room made simple meals and washing convenient. A large, nice shopping center and the public transit hub are very close. If you're traveling light, you can get here by SkyTrain or bus. Highly recommended.

Anna and her daughter, the owners, were lovely, and most things about the stay were good. But the Google and Expedia listings were misleading in a few ways: there’s no guest lounge, despite the photo, no staircase and no in-room fridge. The tiny 12-by-6-inch cold box doesn’t count as a fridge. There is one in the shared kitchen in the garage, but going out there in winter for food or a snack wouldn’t appeal to me. The walls could use a wash, and after just five minutes walking around, our socks were dirty. I understand the no-shoes policy, but the floors need to be clean for that to work. I also felt the listing and feedback were clouded by people not wanting to upset the host. I’m not trying to do that, just sharing this to inform others.

Our room was clean and had its own bathroom, though it was a little small. There’s a full kitchen, a good-sized hall and a backyard garden. The metro station is very close. She was helpful and always answered our questions. I’d recommend staying here.

The room had three large windows and fancy drapes, with lots of natural light and a street view. Two windows opened, which gave us a much-needed cross breeze in the heat. There was also a standing fan; by itself it wouldn’t have been enough, but together with the breeze it kept the room comfortable. There’s plenty of street parking. With the windows open, though, we heard street noise and nearby construction in the morning. The place was in a great location, an easy walk to everything, and I’d stay again. Google calls it a “bed and breakfast,” but there wasn’t really breakfast or the shared meals I associate with a B&B. It felt more like an Airbnb without the app. We had to leave our shoes at the entrance, which I understand, though it was a hassle. The so-called refrigerator fit only two water bottles and barely kept them cold. It also made noise, so eventually we unplugged it. A regular mini fridge would have been better.

An and her daughter were lovely hosts, and their home, the AnYang house, was exceptionally clean and well cared for. She made us feel welcome and comfortable throughout our stay. My girlfriend even received a beautiful pair of earrings for her birthday. We’re very grateful for their hospitality. For a reasonably priced place to stay in Vancouver, this is a great option. Thank you both!
