Canadas Best Value Inn Calgary Chinook Station

This place is run down and overpriced. The room smelled musty, and the air conditioner kept shutting itself off, leaving it like a sauna. One night I took a bath, then the night worker pounded on our door, saying the shower curtain had slipped outside the tub and water was leaking into the room below. The next day they refused to return my damage deposit, blaming me for the water damage. This seems like a known problem. Fix the bathroom so guests can use it without being blamed for leaks. I later read reviews saying keeping damage deposits is common here. It feels like a scam. Save your money and stay somewhere else.

0/10, horrible hotel. Don’t stay here. We were meant to stay for two weeks, but they kicked us out when the plumbing stopped working, which had nothing to do with us. They kept our DD and $900 of our money. I looked through a window and saw our backpacks emptied, like someone had gone through our stuff. When we came back to collect everything, they made us wait almost an hour and didn’t return any of the $1,400. Then they threatened to call the cops because the people we were talking to were dealing with the same thing. We found out lots of people have unfortunately gone through this here.

BEWARE!!! I booked through Expedia, which I’ve used for years without a problem, and the room was supposed to cost $220 total. After they took a $59.94 reservation deposit, I arrived to check in and was told the price was $585. They said I’d lose the $59.94 if I refused to pay. I refused and lost the deposit rather than hand over even more money. This felt like a bait and switch scam on travel booking sites. I told Expedia about the operator and said this had damaged my trust in their platform and its integrity. I also asked the hotel for a refund, but haven’t heard back and don’t really expect to. If they do respond, I’ll post what happens.

For the price I paid, this was one of my best motel experiences. The front desk lady was really sweet and answered all my touristy questions. 10/10, recommend.
