Days Inn by Wyndham Calgary South

The worst part was the basement women’s washroom near the pool. It smelled awful and hadn’t been cleaned on either of the two days I used it. The parking was a nightmare, the breakfast area was disorganized, and the hot tub wasn’t hot. Getting to the pool was awkward too: you had to cross the lobby and go down stairs in your bathing suit, then make the same trip wet. The room was spacious, but the bathroom was tiny, outdated, dirty, and moldy. The pool area itself felt strange and was hard to access. This hotel has potential, but it’s run down and the owners don’t seem to be making an effort. It wasn’t worth what we paid, especially when cleaner, newer Calgary hotels cost less. I wouldn’t recommend it.

Traffic from the main road made it very hard to sleep. I’d messaged the front desk several times and called ahead because I’m sensitive to noise and specifically asked for a room away from the road, but we were given one facing it anyway. I reported the noise during the stay and was told a manager would take care of it. Nobody followed up or contacted me. Having the request ignored, then getting no resolution, was frustrating and felt like a lack of care and respect.

The front desk staff were patient, kind, and helpful. They let me check in a little early and even helped find my eyeglasses at midnight. I really appreciated the service. Highly recommended.

My flight delays left me stuck in Calgary, but joining the points club got me a decent rate. The whole hotel is non smoking, which was a big plus for me. It was clean and fairly quiet, with a pool, whirlpool, and breakfast included in the room price. It was more than just a continental breakfast, which was nice. I’d stay again if needed. Taxi fare to the airport isn’t cheap, though, and Uber was better for the return trip.
