For a Calgary connection or an early flight, this is a good hotel since it’s connected to the terminal, and service has always been friendly and helpful. Rooms are good, though not great. The inside-view rooms are disappointing because there’s little natural light. The size is good for a delta, and the rest is what I’d expect from the brand. If the price is the same or very close, I’d choose the Marriott instead.

The part that hurt most was hearing my son say, “It’s okay, Dad. I’ll eat in the lobby by myself.” Since there were no lobby tables, we ended up sitting on couches and holding food from the lobby pantry. We had driven two hours through a dark, snowy night, returned our rental car for an early flight, and the hotel restaurant, Codo, was still open when we went down for dinner. My son has a special diet, so we bring his food when we travel, including to restaurants. For the first time, we were told we couldn’t dine in because he had his own food, even though the rest of us planned to order meals and drinks. I explained this to the manager, Brahmjyot Sahani, but he responded in a reprimanding tone, “No. You can eat in your room if you order room service.” We felt humiliated and talked down to. I asked whether he expected a family of four to eat in a small hotel room, and he said, “There is nothing I can do.” It was late and the restaurant wasn’t busy, so this could have been a chance to show flexibility and make a family, and long-time Marriott members, feel welcome. We know hotels have rules, but a Service Manager should help guests feel comfortable, especially in special circumstances. Instead, the experience left a bitter impression. The front desk staff had been welcoming, and the bellman was wonderful with our luggage, which made what happened later all the more upsetting.

It costs more than the hotels near YYC, but we’d rather stay on site than depend on a shuttle. The rooms are amazingly quiet, beds very comfortable, and the restaurant has a full menu with reasonable prices. Staff are helpful and accommodating. Hotel parking is available for a fee.

Alona made check-in especially welcoming. She was sweet, friendly, and attentive, and I really appreciated her service. I like the room and find the hotel very clean. This wasn’t my first stay, and it was a great experience. Thank you, Alona!

An April snowstorm in Alberta stranded me halfway to Calgary, and I’d planned to stay at the hotel before a morning business flight. The roads were not recommended for travel, the weather in Calgary was even worse, Deerfoot Trail was closed northbound, Stoney Trail was not recommended, and there were accidents everywhere. Westjet moved my flight to later in the day without question because of the weather. The hotel wouldn’t even consider giving me a credit for a future stay.
