Green Gables Bungalow Court

We’d stayed here four times before Covid and remembered it as beautiful and clean, so this visit was a big disappointment. We won’t be back. The receptionist was rude and unwelcoming, and none of the workers or staff felt as friendly as they had on earlier visits. Our cottage smelled musty and damp and felt dirty. The yard hadn’t been mowed, the playground was a mess, and the pool was warm but cloudy-looking and unclean. When we asked for towels, we got light brown ones that looked and felt gross. The bed linen didn’t feel crisp or changed, and the pullout couch mattress seemed to be from the 90s and was very uncomfortable. The sheets on it definitely hadn’t been changed either. Skip this place. It’s no longer worth the money. The new owners clearly don’t care, and the staff responsible for cleaning the cottages don’t seem to either. The owner also asked us to leave a good review. I couldn’t do it.

I want to give them minus 10 for the inconvenience. We had a last-minute booking for cottage 41, with check-in between midnight and 2 a.m. When we got there, the key from the lockbox either didn’t fit or the door lock had a problem, and we couldn’t get inside. We waited outside in 6-degree cold for about four hours, with our two-year-old baby. I tried contacting the host, Gabin, many times, but nobody answered. I called Airbnb customer service, and they kept me waiting for 3.5 hours while trying to reach the host. I called repeatedly, and a different person answered each time, wasting more of my time and energy. It was so scary. In the end I had to pay $536 to stay at a hotel. This whole experience was completely unacceptable. If you’re thinking of staying here, please consider this risk.

The power to our cabin went out completely at around 11 p.m., leaving us in total darkness for the rest of the night. Nobody came to help, and we felt abandoned. Before that, the heater wasn’t working, so the cabin was freezing at night, and it was full of bugs. We tried contacting the host several times and got no reply. This was by far the worst stay we’ve had. Wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

The beds and pullout couch were so uncomfortable that we struggled to get a good night’s sleep. The pool was disappointing too, with foggy water that looked dirty. There were earwigs crawling in different parts of the cottage, and the towels and linens were dirty. The cottages are outdated and in rough shape, with worn things that look like they haven’t been cared for in a long time. The lawn was overgrown and the landscaping hadn’t been touched in a while, adding to the run-down feel of the property. From the start, Green Gable Cottages felt neglected and poorly maintained. Basic care has been ignored for ages, and I wouldn’t recommend staying here unless serious improvements are made.
