Charlottetown Inn & Conference Centre

We stayed for a few months in 2021, and it was a dump then. It sounds like nothing has changed. The place is dirty, run down, and they don’t seem to care. It felt like a flop house, with homeless people all over. There was no AC, hot water only sometimes, and the electricity kept cutting out. We found the whole room was powered through a power bar lying on the floor under the bed. Staff were no help with anything. I’m laughing at the fake reviews from people who supposedly loved it. Stay away.

Our stay from Thursday to Sunday was mostly okay, except Friday night. Younger guests were partying, making noise, and fighting in the conference centre lobby. Security went to their room twice, but only spoke to the girl who rented it and listened to what we felt were her lies. Nothing else was done, so we were kept up until 2 a.m. by the commotion. We also noticed a spicy food smell in our room in the mornings and around supper time, but not in the afternoon or overnight. I had to buy a plug-in air freshener to try to cover it.

The room was newly renovated, which was nice, and the rate was okay. Most of the hotel was being renovated too. Breakfast had no gluten-free choices apart from fruit. At 3 a.m. there was a loud squealing noise. I told the front desk, but they did nothing about the inconvenience.

During our one night, the room never got warmer than 16 degrees. We’d booked a newly renovated room, but there was no heat. The only thing they offered was a space heater, which couldn’t regulate the temperature. The shower had no soap, shampoo, or conditioner. The place was rundown, and the included breakfast was minimal at best. This was the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in. I wouldn’t recommend the Inn to anyone, even as a last resort, unless they like relying on space heaters.
