We came in May and were lucky enough to get cabin #7 with the best view, probably before things got busy. It was spotless, and having parking right by the door made unloading and loading easy. Cheryl (owner? manager?) was lovely and so helpful. The setting was quiet and peaceful, with lots of shops and Artisans close by. Freya & Thor is great, and there are plenty of places to eat too. L'abri is dynamite, and Marguerites provisions has some of the best pastries I've ever tried, especially the lemon cruller. There are many trails nearby, and the location on the Cabot Trail worked well for us: we drove half one day and the other half the next, going out and back. We liked it so much we added two nights to our stay, making it four. Sad to leave today. Cell service is nearly non existent around here and along the trail, so download maps for offline use and expect intermittent connections.

We stayed in #7 for two nights, and the location made it easy to get to the park and Skyline Trail, which is a must see. The grocery store in town was well stocked, and Aucoin Bakery was only two minutes away, with great cinnamon rolls. Mr. Chicken was just as close for ice cream and chicken. Our family loved the bright, airy chalet, especially the water and sunset view. The beds were huge and comfortable, and we liked opening the windows to let in the sea breeze. Daily housekeeping was a pleasant surprise.

The fridge in our room was loud enough to wake us through the night, though the room itself was fine. We’d thought we booked the other pilot whale property, 15km down the road. That wasn’t the end of the world, but as cyclists the extra 30km could have been very challenging. At check-in I mentioned the issue, and the owner was very non chalant. She clearly wasn’t going to do anything about the Google listing for her other permanently closed business, so I marked it closed myself in two minutes.

The sturdy, quiet chalet was a welcome break from the strong wind during our stay in Cheticamp. We took a lovely walk along the bluff behind the property and caught a gorgeous sunset. There was also a sunrise from our unit’s porch. The bedroom upgrades were lovely, and the service was friendly and professional. Everything was clean, the amenities were good, and the location was excellent.

We sat by the beach and relaxed, though clouds moved in before we could see the full sunset. That’s nature. The place was clean and spacious enough that, as a senior, I could imagine living there. Our friends in another cabin felt the same way about it. Such a jewel of a place, and I wish we’d had longer. I’d come back in a moment, maybe next year.
