The Findlay House

Carrie Ann and Michael made us tasty, filling breakfasts and were excellent hosts in the mornings. They also went out of their way to help with checkout. The reservations lady was accommodating about a couple of issues we had. We arrived late Friday night, but getting in with the door keypad was easy. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and everyone at the Findlay House helped make our stay relaxing. Thank you.

I don't usually write reviews, but the highly rated older ones may give people the wrong impression of Findlay House now. We chose it after reading about wonderful hosts and gourmet breakfasts, but there were no hosts on site during our visit, as some recent reviews have also mentioned. Breakfast was average, served by a very sweet young girl, but it didn't feel like the B&B experience we expected. The rooms were tiny and close together; with other guests, noise and sharing a bathroom would have felt much too crowded. In replies to reviews, the owner seems defensive and keeps pointing to the $120.00 price. I've stayed at much cleaner, better B&Bs for that amount.

Breakfast was cooked to order and very good, though I would have preferred a room on the main floor. We stayed in the basement room, which was fine except it was quite cool. We asked to have the air conditioning turned off, and it was, but it kept switching back on. The TV remotes also needed new batteries.

The house was lovely, with fresh flowers, beautiful decor, and nice music playing in the background. Tanya was friendly and helpful, and made us feel very welcome. We used the included 20% discount for Scandinavian Spa, which was a great perk. Breakfast was delicious too. I'd definitely recommend the place.
