The Flying Canoe, attached to the hotel, is a must visit. The Best Western in Courtenay also made it easy to get around, with downtown, restaurants, and shops nearby. My room was clean, comfortable, and well maintained, with a good bed and the basics I needed. Staff were helpful and friendly from check-in through check-out, and the hotel was quiet and comfortable when I wanted to unwind. It offers good value and met my expectations for a reliable stay. I’d consider returning and would recommend it to people visiting Courtenay.

The free breakfast was plentiful but underwhelming. We rented a suite, and the room, furnishings, and beds were comfortable. But the heating unit kept switching on and off noisily all night, leaving us awake and exhausted in the morning.

The rooms are clean and quiet, and the ventilation works well. Some king rooms have elevator access, but there’s no elevator to the second floor generally, and you have to take stairs from the garage to the lobby. The buffet breakfast was inconsistent. The hotel looks worn and is overdue for a major renovation. Given its current condition, the price feels too high, since spending a little more gets you a much better stay at the hotel across the street.

RAGHAV at reception made the stay especially enjoyable. He was welcoming and patient from the moment I arrived, answered all my questions with a smile, and went out of his way to make sure things were right. His professionalism and friendly manner really stood out. I appreciated his help and dedication, and had a wonderful, comfortable stay.

Just the worst hotel experience I've ever had. There was a used tissue beside the bed, no late check-out, and a yappy dog was left unattended for a couple of hours. Awful. Don't stay there. 🛏️
