Hotel St. Paul, Montreal, a Member of Design Hotels

We spent four nights here in June and would gladly return. The hotel is clean, charmingly decorated, and full of character. From its convenient spot in Old Montreal, it's an easy walk to the main sights and just a short distance from Square Victoria metro station.

The room temperature was hard to manage. I couldn't cool it down except by opening the window, and the thermostat screen stayed lit all night. At least it was quiet, I slept well, and the food was good. The staff were also friendly and attentive, though the surroundings fell well short of the usual Marriott standard. This was my first stay at this hotel, despite being a longtime Marriott member. It had usually been too expensive under my company's booking policy, so I arrived with high expectations based on its reputation and price. The dated rooms were a letdown: carpet everywhere, worn furniture, decor stuck in the 90s, and a bathroom that looked just as old. For that price, I expected much better. I'd only return if I had an event nearby, since the location is close to Old Montreal.

I was here in December for my company's holiday training and party. The bed was really comfortable, the shower had good pressure and temperature, and breakfast was delicious. It's a beautiful downtown hotel, with lots of shops and great restaurants within easy walking distance. I'd recommend staying here if you're in the area.

Our team really enjoyed the three-day retreat at this hotel. It gave our work a beautiful setting, and everyone found it comfortable. The staff were exceptionally friendly, and I'll happily recommend the place to anyone visiting Montreal. I coordinated the space and experience with Clarisse and Mikael, who were both wonderful. Clarisse helped with dining choices, ideas for things to do in the city, and the team's overall wellbeing. She took care with every detail.
