Le Saint-Malo

After driving six hours from Ontario, we had what felt like the worst hotel stay on earth in Montreal. The room was freezing, in the basement, and extra small. We were charged $139, plus pet and parking fees. The washroom handle didn't work, and we got stuck inside every time, so we had to leave the door open while using it. When we complained, the person in charge insulted us. There were stains on the blankets and traces of smoke, so we couldn't sleep comfortably even though the room was supposed to be smoke-free. Our vacation was ruined. Afterwards, we went to N hotel in Quebec city.

We arrived with a confirmation for a room for four, only to be told there were no rooms available. When I showed the man at the desk our email, he laughed at us. Several other people in the lobby had the same problem. The hotel had only one room left, and it was so filthy that nobody would take it even for $20 a night. We had to find another hotel at the last minute and pay more than we had budgeted. Sorting it out also ate into our already short vacation. We booked through Orbitz, which refunded us, though I probably wouldn't book through Orbitz again. I hope this place burns to the ground.

We had to buy our own hand soap and toilet paper, the service was terrible, and our room door was cracked. The room didn't seem to get much attention when it came to cleanliness. Someone inside the lounge also asked us if we wanted drugs. I'm never coming back, but Montreal was lit. Go to club Wanda's!

A total dump: dirty floors, torn carpets, damaged walls, and broken doors. The water pressure was poor, and often nobody was at the front desk.
