We’d planned to stay in Nelson, but the railway ran right below our window, which wasn’t going to work while we were still getting over jet lag. Luckily, there was a room at Blaylock Mansion. We booked the presidential suite and slept wonderfully on the softest linen I’ve ever felt. The lack of air-conditioning was actually a blessing. The mansion itself is grand, the rock garden is beautiful, and the welcome was so warm. It was a real treat to stay in such an authentic historic place. We were lucky to find a room, as this place really ought to be fully booked. Highly recommended!

The mansion, estate, and gardens were beautiful, and our guests loved their rooms. The views were unbeatable, too. We had our wedding weekend at Blaylock, and it was unforgettable. The team helped bring our vision to life and worked with every request, so we could do things just as we would at home. Brett and Jennifer were incredible and made us feel so welcome. Our wedding looked amazing. If you’re hoping for a wedding like that, definitely consider this place.

The owners are so kind and clearly take pride in keeping the mansion in mint condition. We loved hearing about its history, and the gardens and pool were lovely. It’s a really unique place for a cool experience, about 10 minutes from town. Well worth the drive.

The mansion’s history in the Kootenays is hard to beat, and the architecture, grounds, and garden are stunning. The rooms are spacious, clean, and charming, and the full-sized lane pool was great. I can only imagine what it costs to keep the place in such good shape. Just keep in mind this is a bed and breakfast, not a conventional hotel, and there’s no A/C. Window units would look ugly here anyway. A couple of things for management: the games room carpet needs cleaning, and the full-sized snooker table is lovely but practically unusable with rough or broken cues and chalk that needs replacing. What’s the point of a nice table if you can’t play?

Brett gave us a tour and shared some of the house’s history when we arrived. From the huge pool and games room to Jennifer’s delicious Saturday breakfast, it was a lovely experience. We stayed in the spectacular Presidential Suite and felt at home throughout the whole house. Brett and Jennifer, a husband and wife, welcomed us into their mansion and treated us like family. My husband and I really enjoyed our stay.
