Model A Inn

I checked into the Model A Motel in Cranbrook on July 14. At first the manager seemed friendly, but that changed fast. The room was very dated, not very clean, and smelled unpleasant, including the bedding. There was garbage outside my door, no coffee maker, and I didn't feel secure. A window AC unit had been put in instead of a proper air conditioner, leaving the window unsecured so someone could push it open from outside. The AC also kept shutting off, and the room became uncomfortable. The small fridge barely worked, so I politely asked if it could be replaced. The manager looked upset, and when I came back later to ask about it, he got even more irritated. Soon I heard loud banging. He'd dropped the new fridge outside. I offered to help, but he snapped at me to stay out of the way. I calmly said that if this was a problem, I was willing to leave for a refund. He replied, “I'm not giving you a refund!!!!” This was a terrible experience, and I strongly recommend avoiding this motel.

For the price, this was a great place to stay. The room was clean and comfortable, and felt right for what I paid. The bed was surprisingly comfortable, the best I've found in a motel. The staff were really friendly and helped me with an unusual, inconvenient request, even though they didn't have to.

The room was decent and the bed comfortable, but no coffee. They pointed out there's a Tim's across the street. Um, duh, I saw the sign. There's no plug by the bed, and the grounds need a makeover. They still use old-fashioned keys. Maybe next time, if I'm desperate.

Inside, our rooms were in great shape and clean, and the staff were friendly. The outside was the total opposite, though. The exterior, windows, and landings were filthy. Just pressure wash the siding already.
