Prestige Cranbrook Hotel, BW Premier Collection

We paid over $250 for one night, and the room on the first floor was the dirtiest hotel room I’ve ever stayed in. The sheets reeked of bleach, the floor was covered in dirt and stains, and the bathroom was awful. The shower wouldn’t drain because paper towels or plastic were packed around the drain. The exterior and lobby look updated, but the guest rooms don’t. I’d stay somewhere else, and the cleanliness here needs to be looked into.

The reception staff apologized, and the cleaning issue was fixed the next day during our two-night stay. Still, I was disappointed to have to report that the toilet and shower hadn’t been cleaned properly. The room itself was comfortable and had everything I needed, but I expect a good standard of cleanliness.

The room was comfortable and I had no complaints about it, aside from the fridge. It was so loud that it kept me awake for much of the night and made it hard to get proper rest. An okay stay, but I hope they sort out that noise for future guests.

For what we paid, I expected more. We arrived late with two young kids and found the sink completely blocked. We waited until checkout the next morning to tell the front desk because we were trying to get the kids to bed and didn’t want plumbing work happening so late. The staff member was apologetic and said she’d let maintenance know as soon as she could, but housekeeping should have caught a problem before it got that bad. The tub stopper was broken too, so we couldn’t give the kids a bath. We cancelled our next reservation because I think there’s better value elsewhere in town.
