Magnuson Hotel Creston

We were in a non-smoking area, but every morning the smell of weed came back, and it was awful. The place is old, though it was quite clean overall. One of our three rooms had hair in the tub, and the box spring covers were quite dirty. The sheets seemed clean.

The room was very clean. There’s a sauna and hot tub, and the hotel is right downtown with a distinctive indoor lobby and balcony.

The rooms were much bigger than I expected, and clean. The staff were friendly, though they forgot to leave towels in our room when we arrived. There’s a full-size kitchen, and the location is convenient, close to the grocery store. Still, it felt like a very basic, dated motel, and $115 a night felt like a rip-off. I’d be comfortable paying $60 at most. Three stars might even be generous. I just need a bed and shower, but at the listed price I wouldn’t come back when there are nicer places for about the same amount.

This place was gross, nowhere near clean. We asked for early check-in because we got into town sooner than expected, but were told they couldn’t let us in because they still had to clean the room. When we arrived, the floors were covered in mud, there were crumbs in the sheets, and the floors were so bad we kept our shoes on. It smelled like cigarettes, there was a plate of cigarette butts by the door, and the bathroom was moldy. The towels were yellow and gross. I’m fine with a dated room if it’s clean, but this wasn’t. Definitely wouldn’t recommend staying here.
