Residence Inn Halifax Dartmouth

The pool and hot tub were the worst part. The chlorine seemed set to 1000 on a scale of 1-10, and my black shorts and shirt turned orange. When I mentioned it at checkout, the agent said, “THAT’S GOOD!” Did he think I wanted my clothes ruined, or did he not understand me? I've stayed at Residence Inn properties many times along the eastern seaboard, and this was ATROCIOUS. Getting extra towels was like pulling teeth. Staff weren't helpful, and we were told rooms aren't cleaned when you're staying only two nights. We still needed towels. They were so thin, like hospital Kleenex, and must have been at least three or four years old. The toaster was rusty. The water pressure was poor too, though that wasn't the main problem.

The wait staff were rude whenever we asked a question, and the breakfast was a letdown. I have four kids, and the only cereal was Raisin Bran. There was no waffle mix on our first morning, and they brushed us off by saying it would be there tomorrow. Two of my kids were counting on waffles, so that wasn't fun for them. There was no coffee when we arrived or the next morning. No yogurt on morning one either, though they had some the second day. The only fruit was bruised apples.

The location was great, with lots of dining and shopping nearby, and only a few minutes from downtown Halifax, the airport, and Dartmouth. Traffic wasn't bad. The hotel was well maintained, and our room was spacious and clean. We also checked out the pool, which was very nice, with a waterslide, hot tub, and plenty of room to swim.

I had a fantastic two-week stay at the Residence Inn by Marriott Dartmouth. The spacious room felt like a condo, so I settled in comfortably and quickly. Breakfast was complimentary each morning, and the staff's energy and laughter gave me the start to the day I needed. The location worked well too, with lots of food options a short walk away and downtown Halifax about a 15-20 minute drive. I accidentally left a device in my room, but the hotel's customer service came through. Big thanks to Alex L. for shipping it back to my house. I received it today. I'll definitely return when I'm in Nova Scotia again. Thanks for making the stay memorable.
