The large bath was amazing, and the place itself was cozy and beautiful. We had a little trouble getting the TV to work, but help came promptly over the phone. Light from cars and outside fixtures still came through the curtains and roll-down shades, so the room never got fully dark. A small shade for the window above the door might help, or bring a sleep mask. We had a really nice stay and wished we'd booked longer. We'll stay longer next time.

The bed setup was strange: there was no fitted sheet, just a flat sheet on the mattress, a thin duvet, then another flat sheet over that. The fireplace wasn't electric, and the logs wouldn't burn. The space also felt much smaller than it looked in the photos, and the bathroom door wouldn't close properly. They ask guests to tip housekeeping, but if you leave your dishes undone, there's a $50 charge, and there's no dishwasher. A disappointing stay.

The lake and fall colors were even more beautiful than we expected, and there are benches along the water where you can sit and enjoy the view. Some can be rearranged with a table for lunch or dinner by the shore. We came for five days to relax and watch the leaves change, and it was exactly the restful break we wanted. My fiancee and I stayed in one of the units and slept incredibly well. The bed, linens, and pillows felt like luxury hotel quality. Inside, there's a full-size fridge with freezer, stovetop, oven, microwave, and enough kitchen gear to make a gourmet meal. The indoor jacuzzi tub for two was a great extra, whether you want to stretch out alone or have a candlelit bath together. The owners were quick to answer questions. We had one small issue, and they handled it right away. The nearby town, about 1 km away, has shops and restaurants with what you might need. We'd recommend Lofts du Lac des Sables, whether you're one person or a family group renting all five lofts for up to 10 people. We loved our stay.
