Our guide was helpful and really knew their stuff. I tried the half-day ice climbing session and had a great time learning about the equipment, with plenty of time for several climbs. There were routes at different difficulty levels. I’d recommend it to anyone starting out in climbing or just looking to try something new in winter.

The wolf viewing was a bonus, though when we visited it was extremely cold and they were curled up asleep. There were about 20-30 people there, and hiking trails are on site. A fun outing if you’re in the area, with good taxidermy displays.

The Walk in the Clouds suspended bridges can be scary if you’re afraid of heights, and it’s not suitable for little kids. Read the fine print, since the website doesn’t give the details. Some boards seemed deteriorated and needed replacing, and some ropes holding the boardwalk weren’t spaced properly. The washroom is tiny, and there was no toilet paper before the trip. Bring your own.

The Wolf Centre is thoughtfully designed, with a close but respectful view of wolves in their natural environment. The staff were knowledgeable and passionate about conservation and education. We also enjoyed the interactive exhibits and catching sight of the wolves. The forest is beautiful, with peaceful, well-maintained trails. Visiting Haliburton Forest and Wolf Centre was a highlight of our trip. It’s a lovely quiet escape for nature lovers or families wanting an educational outing. Highly recommend.
