Nomi Resort

The cottages are beautiful and the food was unreal, both would get 5/5 from me. But the 36-hour retreat we were gifted felt lacking. It was really 24 hours including the stay and food, which was great. The website description mentioned hot tubs and pools, but neither exists. I was excited about a new spa opening near our cottage, but after this experience I can’t recommend it and won’t be back, except for a meal.

The food was phenomenal throughout our wedding at Nomi, from the ceremony canapés to the four-course dinner and the 10pm snack. Our guests kept saying it was the best food they’d ever had, everyone was full, and drinks kept coming all night. Hugo also made a signature cocktail for the lounge reception that was out of this world. The staff handled everything professionally, including the ceremony bar and mocktails, and umbrellas with Muskoka chairs for the extreme heat. We had the ceremony on Nomi’s dock on Benoir lake, a two-minute drive from the resort. The new docks had spectacular views. We arranged everything on short notice, but Hugo took on planning and made sure it all went smoothly. The grounds looked immaculate, with freshly cut grass, bright mulch and beautiful flowers. Inside was pristine too. Elise, the owner, welcomed us and showed us around, including plans for the future Nordic spa, which we’re excited about. They added fresh flowers throughout the resort, giving it a special feel. We stayed in the new modern cottage, where Hugo had left a delicious charcuterie board and champagne. Everything was clean and organized, and our family and guests said their rooms were beautiful, clean and modern. My husband and I also had luxurious Vivier facials and loved them. Lynn made us comfortable and clearly knows her work. Leslie gave my husband a massage the morning of the wedding, and he said it was the best he’d ever had. We highly recommend Nomi for weddings and events. It feels upscale compared with other places in the area, and they exceeded our expectations.

The food was incredible, and the staff, especially the restaurant servers, were kind, polite and helpful when we arrived. We enjoyed the resort and found it beautiful, though it felt a little too upscale for us as country folk. A few things kept it at three stars for us. It’s quite a drive to the lake, so be ready to use an AWD vehicle. The hotel felt eerily quiet and vacant, with hardly anyone around and not much to do. You also have to pay to use the fire pits. There’s no pool, which would be a big asset given how far the resort is from a lake.

Nomi is tucked away in nature, making it a peaceful, private place to unwind and disconnect while still offering comfort and luxury. The service feels artisanal. Staff were polite, attentive and helpful, making sure we had what we needed without being intrusive. Don’t hesitate to approach them. If you want a quiet nature break with a comfortable stay and great service, Nomi is a good choice.
