Fairmont Hotel Macdonald

I've been coming here for several years, and the experience has kept getting better. I had a lovely recently renovated room, impeccably clean, but the people are what make this hotel special. Valet, check-in, servers, housekeeping, and spa staff have all been professional and welcoming, and they go out of their way whenever I see them. They regularly check in to make sure they're meeting expectations. The building is beautiful, but the management and staff are what make the Fairmont MacDonald feel like a luxury hotel.

The tables were close enough together that we could easily hear conversations nearby, so a bit more space would improve the atmosphere. Yasmin, our waitress, and Eric, the manager, noticed and kindly moved us to a cozy corner. Their attentiveness gave us the comfort and privacy to enjoy the meal, and really made a difference. We chose Sunday brunch at Fairmont Hotel Macdonald for my wife's birthday and to recognize all the work she puts into our family through the year. It was a lovely, memorable occasion. The food was high quality, generously varied, and beautifully presented, from savoury dishes through dessert. Service was professional but warm, and the meal never felt rushed. Even with the close tables, it was a fitting way to celebrate. We're grateful to Yasmin, Eric, and the Fairmont team for helping make the day special.

We drove in from Lethbridge for an Edmonton Oilers game, a long enough trip that we didn't want to make it there and back in one day. I'd bought tickets for my sister, her husband, and my daughter Mya as a Christmas gift, and we had great seats behind the penalty box. This hotel was a lovely place to stay for it. It also seems suited to a romantic weekend or a special getaway, and it's in a good spot for shopping. The hotel feels grand as soon as you arrive, and the rooms and the rest of the property have a luxurious, classy feel. Valet parking was worth it. They were friendly and kind, and getting the vehicle when we were ready to leave was easy. The price was very reasonable compared with parking elsewhere downtown. It'd be a great place for a honeymoon, elegant wedding, or party. Keep up the great work!

The concierge team on the gold floor, Rejean, Kaitlyn and Jay, were great about answering questions and helping with whatever we needed. Breakfast and canapes were nice, and valet made parking and check-in and checkout easy. The extra $10 a day felt worthwhile. My wife and I wanted to treat ourselves to a couple of nights in Edmonton. We got a small suite on sale for what seemed like a reasonable price, and Fairmont delivered the experience I hoped for after staying at other hotels in a similar price range. The historic building gave it a 1920s feel, and the service was fantastic. My expectations were met and exceeded. If you can find a sale or visit in a slower part of the year, I'd recommend giving it a try. It shouldn't break the bank that way. We look forward to trying other Fairmont hotels.
