Hyatt Place Edmonton-West

We keep choosing Hyatt Place because the staff are helpful, friendly and professional, the rooms are spacious and clean, and breakfast is great. There are lots of options, including waffles and sausages or pancakes and bacon, along with eggs, hash browns and more. Every room has a sofa and an office area, which is really nice. My one complaint is that the beds are pretty hard. That’s great if you like a firm bed!

The service was great, and the continental breakfast was probably the best I’ve had anywhere. I stayed here with my family, but the frosted glass bathroom doors made things awkward with kids. With the bathroom light on, you could see pretty clearly whether the person inside was dressed or undressed. For that reason alone, I’ll look for another hotel next time.

My wife and I have stayed here twice now. The rooms are a little dated, though not badly, and they’re clean and tastefully done. The bed was very comfortable, which matters most to me. We tried some appy,s and were pleasantly surprised. The food was hot and delicious, and I’d say try the P&S flatbread. Breakfast was very good again in the morning, and the staff are pleasant to deal with. We’ll come back.

The cleanliness was a 0/10 for me. At check-in there were stains on my sheets. Staff said the marks wouldn’t come out but the sheets were clean, so I changed rooms. The next morning, the cups at breakfast all looked dirty. I thought it might be the design, but when I scratched inside one, the dirt came right off. Staff said, “the cups are designed like that”. I showed them the dirt coming off, but they brushed it off. The cups still looked the same every day afterward, and the plates that were supposed to be clean were dirty too. I also had a bad experience with Sunita. I paid a refundable 500$ deposit with a debit card, but only got 493$ back. I hadn’t charged anything to my room, and as I understood it, they can’t charge to a room when the deposit is paid by debit. Sunita said “i don’t know” when I asked why, then said nobody else was working, though I’d seen other staff. Sunita had a nasty attitude and kept making backhanded comments to my friend and me. I booked two rooms on Expedia and paid the full amount online with my debit card, but she said I had to pay another 34$ because the rate was different at the hotel. That made no sense to me. I’ve booked hotels many times and expected the online amount to be the final price. She wouldn’t explain the extra charge or call a manager when I asked. One night I went to check out the gym and saw the pool area was open, so I got into the hot tub. I hadn’t noticed the sign saying the pool area closed past 10pm, but the door wasn’t locked. I’d been there a while when a housekeeper came in and yelled at me, “WHY THE HELL ARE YOU HERE THIS AREA IS CLOSED”. When I said the door was open, she told me, “if you were competent enough , you would have been able to read the sign that says it closes at 10”. DO NOT BOOK THS HOTEL.
