Staybridge Suites West Edmonton by IHG

We had Room 202 for one night, with a king bed and pullout couch. Both the bed and the pullout were comfortable, my daughter liked hers too. The bathroom had Dove soap, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, and hand soap. We got up early for the free breakfast in the main area. The waffle station was a hit, especially with the whipped cream and chocolate sauce. Check-in and checkout were easy, and the front desk staff were friendly and helpful when I asked for a bandaid. Definitely coming back.

I've already moved two upcoming Edmonton trips to another property. I won't consider staying again until the renovation is done, unless they offer a discount code. Breakfast wasn't as good as on previous visits. The English muffins were hard as rocks and there wasn't much choice. I guess with only 2 of the 4 floors operating, they may not be making food as often, so it isn't as fresh. While renovations are underway, the common areas are dirty and contractors are constantly using the elevators. Near checkout, I went for a luggage cart, then had to wait to get back to our room because contractors were using both elevators. When one arrived empty, they loaded furniture into it, leaving me, a paying guest, waiting again. Later, as we took our luggage down, boxes of plastic and waste were blocking the elevator on the main floor.

There's no in-house restaurant, and medical stay vouchers are for iHop across the road. The continental breakfast is acceptable, but having breakfast for supper gets old. I'm not sure whether they have tubs, as I'm always given a room with just a shower. Bringing kids isn't ideal when they can't have bath time.

We love Staybridge hotels. Having a full-size fridge and a kitchen with everything except an oven makes it easy to feed yourself without spending much. The Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday reception also has enough food to make a dinner out of. The room was close to luxurious.
