Le Viking Resort & Marina

The rooms were great, and the surrounding area was fantastic. A high-end place to stop, with great food nearby.

This is a small apartment-style hotel, not a resort. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, clean and very nice, and the desk clerk was friendly. They’re also the only staff member here. There’s no restaurant, and the marina is closed. We couldn’t find the horseback riding, and the nearby golf course has been closed for a long time and is completely overgrown. Without your own boat, the choices seem to be sitting on the terrace or using the hot tub.

The lake view is worth it, and the young woman at check-in was helpful in explaining the options and giving us a small discount. I’ll call next time to confirm which unit I’m getting. The condo was clean, modern, luxurious and well stocked, with a grocery store a five-minute walk away. But we booked six months ahead, expecting the same spacious two-bedroom, two-bathroom condo we’d had two years earlier, since that’s the only photo shown online. At check-in, we learned ours had just one bathroom. The listing doesn’t explain that the smaller of the two-bedroom options has only one bathroom, beyond a note about square footage. We feel that’s false advertising, and The Viking should make the difference clear on its website before people book. We had to pay a lot more at the last minute.

We had a pretty good stay. The room was spacious and very clean, with a lovely lake view, and being able to bring our dog was a big plus. I’d definitely come back. The kitchen was the weak point. Since it’s full-sized, I expected it to have everything, but it was missing hand soap, paper towels and oven mitts. There were only two Nespresso pods and one dishwasher capsule. I went downstairs for more, and was told there’d be an extra charge. The kitchen could really be better equipped.
