The garden and walking trails nearby made the setting feel just right. My partner and I spent a peaceful, lovely stay here last month, and I’m already missing it and hoping to come back soon. Our studio had plenty of space and everything we needed, and the cabins were comfortable. That wood stove was a favorite, and everything seemed thoughtfully arranged.

These are small, quaint cabins with a few options to fit what you need. They’re clean and quiet, and the larger cabin I stayed in a few years back was great. If you’re after fresh decor or a bougie place, this probably won’t be your style.

We spent New Year’s Eve tucked into the little wooden Arbutus cabin, with a fire going, Pillsbury cookies, and our favorite Korean drama. It was such a nice way to celebrate, and I’d absolutely recommend staying here. Cabin #3 has a cozy, granny-core feel and sits right across from Active pass. It was extremely clean and, as far as I could tell, the most affordable option on the island. There’s a fireplace, and they provide wood to use. Without a car, it’s still manageable: the ferry terminal is about a 30 minute walk away, with plenty of hikes accessible from there. Just keep in mind there aren’t restaurants or stores nearby. Stop at the Galiano Garage after getting off the ferry to pick up what you’ll need.

The beds were comfortable, and the kitchen worked well. It was a quiet spot with the shoreline just a short walk away. We were after a rustic cabin and this was exactly right. We’ll be back.

Getting here from the ferry is just a short trip, and there are a couple of local places to eat nearby. The grounds are wonderful, and the staff were helpful and accommodating. I was traveling with my 93 year old father, and they were quick and happy to make allowances for him.
