Come by car or boat for a lovely summer dinner while you’re visiting the cottage. The food is excellent, and the owners and staff give wonderful service.

Hotel Kenney is a lovely place to unwind beside the Rideau Canal, take in the scenery, and slow down. It’s peaceful, comfortable, and gorgeous. There’s plenty to do, whether you want to hike, paddle, take photos, or just relax with a drink. The views are postcard worthy, so bring your camera. Stop for dinner or a snack to go, and don’t miss the ice cream, cookies, or the history lesson. There’s so much charm and heart here, along with a real sense of heritage. You come for the views and stay for the atmosphere, then start thinking about your next visit before you’ve even left.

The owners were lovely and went out of their way to make our stay amazing. The food was plentiful and top notch, and we were greeted with big smiles and a bit of the hotel’s history. The location and views can’t be beat. The room was clean, though dated and a little musty. This historic hotel is a diamond in the rough, and I can’t wait to return when the renovations are finished.

We ended up staying an extra night on our boat at the dock because the weather turned cold and blustery. The Sunday brunch was meant to run until 2, but they were closing it at 1, and a couple who wanted food were turned away then. We only wanted a drink in the pub or to sit by the lobby fireplace, but neither was an option. The hours are limited and confusing, as other reviews mention, which kept me from giving five stars. The location is lovely and has an interesting history, the owners are friendly, and the ice cream shop cookies are delicious. They’ve taken on a huge project, and I hope they make it great. Wi-Fi was weak, especially by the dock, and some boards badly need replacing.

The breakfast I had was the best I’ve ever had at a hotel, and the baked goods are to die for. It’s a beautiful, vintage place right on the water, with stunning views. The new owners are working really hard to make the property even more beautiful. There’s also a lovely hiking trail around the property, which I believe is Parks Canada. The room price was reasonable. Try booking directly through their website.
