Best Western Plus Gatineau-Ottawa Downtown

We booked on the same day and everything went smoothly. The room was spacious, comfortable, clean, and well organized, with a lovely view from the window. The heated pool was a nice extra, and the staff were kind, attentive, and ready to help. I’d definitely come back.

We didn’t stay, and I wouldn’t recommend this place. We were there for a team competition, but the hotel smelled terrible and looked very unclean. In the first room, the floor hadn’t been vacuumed and had things scattered around; there was also old dirt in the corners. The second room was even smellier, with stains all over the carpet and someone’s fake fingernail on the floor. Other people in our party checked out too. Those who stayed have complained about the smell, plumbing, and heating, and the rooms and beds are small. For the price, there are much nicer hotels. I’m shocked this is considered a BW Plus level hotel.

Free parking was comfortable, with plenty of spaces, and the staff were friendly, smiling, helpful, responsible, and even joked around. The view was charming, and the location is a real selling point, with no morning traffic. The room is a little old, but had what I needed. The fridge was noisy, and there’s no water for guests in the room, though you can get some from the lobby. I’d give the location and view 5/5, the staff 5/5, and the room 3/5. That’s why I landed at 4.5.

Breakfast was good, and the stay was decent overall. I was in the Presidential Suite, which was nice, but a system problem meant I didn’t get my room key right away. I usually give people the benefit of the doubt, but when I went to pick it up, they said it had been ready for almost an hour, even though they’d promised to call me as soon as it was.
