Holiday Inn Gatineau Ottawa

For the money, it was good value, though breakfast was just okay and the wait took a while. The location is quiet, with not much nearby. The room needed a deeper clean: I spotted hair on the toilet seat and dust on the side tables and around the switch plugs.

We chose the Holiday Inn across the street from the casino and were glad we did. We visited friends for cocktails in their Hilton suite, and our own suite cost a lot less than the Hilton. The rooms were modern and very clean, and best of all, there were no carpets.

I had someone knock at 10 a.m. while I was trying to nap before checkout, even though I'd put out the do not disturb sign. Earlier, around 7 in the morning, a large man walked straight into my room while I was getting dressed with my two young children. It terrified us. When I complained, I was told he thought I'd checked out. Why would they think that so early, and why didn't he knock? My kids are talkative, so it should've been clear we were still there. I couldn't get hold of the manager either. I'm very unhappy with how this went, and would caution women traveling alone against staying here.

It was a really good price, and breakfast came included and was good too. The hotel looks modern and well kept, not old or run down. The location worked perfectly for us, close to the mall and plenty of shops and food places. I'd recommend staying here.
