The British Hotel

The biggest headache was getting out of the parking lot. The card reader and payment machine didn’t work properly, and there was no intercom to ask for help. I spent about 15 minutes trying to leave, and another guest was having the same problem. I ended up nearly an hour late for an important meeting. This felt more like an Airbnb-style rental than a traditional hotel, and the listing didn’t make that clear. Everything is self check-in, with no front desk or on-site staff and very few hotel-style amenities. The entrance was confusing and seemed to go into the bar in the same building, so I had to call the owner for directions. The parking instructions, left side versus right side, were unclear too, and I needed more explanation about spaces “1-16.” Getting from the parking area to the room meant a long, maze-like route with stairs and no elevator. That’s a real hassle in winter or with several pieces of luggage. In the room, there were no basic items like a toothbrush or soap, and towels were limited. The bedding was disappointing, with hairs on the sheets and stains on the blanket. Although the room was listed as non-smoking, cigarette and weed smoke was coming strongly from the neighboring room.
