Mount 7 Guesthouse

I booked two nights for my family through Expedia and quickly got a confirmation email. The next day, the hotel cancelled. They said it was most likely a payment issue, but I’ve booked other hotels with the same credit card. When I called Expedia, they looked into it and found the hotel had cancelled because it was overbooked. They said that doesn’t usually happen. Technical issues can happen, but hotels could use this to keep a reservation at a higher price and cancel one booked for less. I’m not saying that happened here, but I wanted to share my experience so others are careful. I missed the single cancellation email among all the other Expedia emails and only found out a week before the trip, when I called to confirm. I managed to book other hotels, but at a higher price. If you stop checking after getting your confirmation, you could be in big trouble.
