The Doctor's House Inn & Spa

We had a great getaway at Doctor’s House Inn & Spa. It sits in a quiet alcove in Green’s Harbour, and Jiggs & Reels down the road is handy if you want a quick lunch or dinner off site. The restaurant was a highlight. Breakfast was delicious, and dinner was fresh and full of flavour. We had a dining credit through our package, and the wait staff were all kind and friendly. They clearly wanted us to have a good experience. Our room was clean, simply decorated, and comfortable, with a large bed, coffee maker, and mini fridge. Even the lighting had been chosen thoughtfully. I went with my girlfriend for a scenic, romantic trip, and we both had a wonderful time. I’d happily recommend Doctor’s House for a getaway.

Jerry and his staff made our chilly, rainy April retreat feel so warm and welcoming. They looked after our lively group for four days with great food, pampering, and whatever little whims we had. The customer service was outrageous in the best way. We got to try housemade maple syrup from trees tapped right on the property, and one evening there was iceberg ice in our drinks. There were relaxing spa services and farm animals to enjoy, too. I loved this place and can’t wait to bring my husband back, even though we live 2000 miles away. So worth the trip, don’t miss it!

The food and service were very nice, and the staff gave us a lovely staycation. We also thought the social distancing protocols were excellent. We were celebrating the third anniversary of the day I didn't Die. In true Newfoundland fashion, the owner Jerry greeted us at breakfast. We had a little chat, and he personally thanked us for our business. That was a nice touch. You should go there!

The room had a couple of small annoyances: its tiny garbage pail was full within an hour or two, and the door lock was stiff and sticky, making it hard to lock or unlock. I also found the bungalow decor a bit vanilla, less warm and inviting than I’d hoped, though a more rustic look could improve it. That’s a minor criticism and wouldn’t stop me from returning. The property itself is beautiful, the food remarkable, and the staff very nice and polite. Even with those room issues, I had a positive stay.
